In today’s world, it seems like there is a cure for almost every disease. Well, that’s true: almost every disease. But not for diabetes. A lot of people wonder whether diabetes can be cured and unfortunately this is not the case. People with diabetes have to deal with it for the rest of their lives. Sometimes, a person with diabetes type 2 can lower his/her blood sugar by losing weight and a healthy lifestyle but this doesn’t mean that he/she is cured.
Eating raw to cure diabetes?
There is information circulating the internet about people who eat raw food for 30 days in a row and claim to be cured from diabetes after that period because they say they don’t need any medication anymore. That is a big and dangerous misconception. Those people hardly eat any carbohydrates. And because of that, there is little glucose in their blood and therefore they need less medication. But it doesn’t cure diabetes. Furthermore, your body lacks nutrition this way and it seems hard to maintain this kind of regime.
Keeping healthy and diabetes
Diabetes can’t be cured. Not yet however. The closest is a pancreas transplantation or a transplantation of cells that produce insulin. This is however a procedure that is only suitable for people with diabetes type 1 who are seriously ill. Hopefully, there will be a way to cure diabetes some day. In the mean time, live your life as you want it, but take care of your body: eat properly, exercise and check your blood sugar.
